Water Filters VS Internet Filters: If you had to choose only one type of filter which one would it be?

Water Filters

  • Protect a child's body
  • The threat of bacteria is found in contaminated water.
  • Drinking bacteria ridden water can cause health issues.  In 2017, the CDC reported 13 deaths and 1006 cases of illness.
  • Parents are willing to spend big bucks on water filters. The water purifier industry is expected to reach $42.5 billion dollars globally by 2022 according to Business Wire. More than 4 out of 10 Americans have a home water purification system according to the Water Quality Associations.
  • When we purchase a water filter for our home, we are essentially filtering already filtered water.  Tap water provided to homes must abide by the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) enacted by Congress and enforced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  In other words, even without a home water filter, our tap water is filtered.

Internet Filters

  • Protect a child's mind
  • The threat of bullying by peers, stalking by adults, & pornographic content by hundred-million dollar corporations are just a few of the dangers.
  • Being exposed to these threats could lead to addiction, depression, mental health issues, and suicidal thoughts. We risk exposing our children to lies which they could be deceived into believing.  When we put their minds at risk, we in a sense put their futures at risk.
  • Costs of internet filters are between $0 (free) and $20 a month plus monitoring time

Test It

How do you know if you need a filter? The answer is: test it.

If you think your tap water is contaminated (even though it's already filtered), then you should test the water to find out what is really going on.  After you test the water, then you will know exactly how good or bad it is for you. Then, you can make an informed decision about whether or not to purchase a water filter.

As far as the internet goes, test it.  Are there real threats to my child? Is my child at risk for being exposed to some pretty serious, albeit dangerous stuff?  If the answer is yes, then jump of your lifeguard stand and purchase a filter. At Community Lifeguard, we are not a community who sits and watches. We jump in and take action. Take action, buy a filter, and protect your child.
